MSC Industrial has parted ways with its chief digital officer.
In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, MSC announced that John Hill had left the company as of June 12.
The company did not list a reason for his departure in the regulatory filing. Hill served as a senior vice president and chief digital officer. He had joined MSC Industrial as CDO in April of 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile.
MSC Industrial, chief digital officer split
Before MSC Industrial, Hill was the chief digital officer responsible for digital and technology strategies at workwear manufacturer and marketer Carhartt. There, he led the company through an “end-to-end digital transformation.” Carhartt operates multiple ecommerce sites, including the B2B site Carhartt Company Gear and the consumer-oriented retail site Carhartt.com.
For the fiscal year 2023 ended Sept. 2, Hill earned a total compensation of $1.298 million, including a base salary of $520,192 and stock awards of $549,916, according to MSC’s latest proxy statement.
As part of his separation agreement from MSC, the industrial supplies distributor will pay Hill a severance package of $550,000 over 12 months.
In the wake of Hill’s departure, MSC has appointed Brian Bello as interim chief digital officer. Before being appointed chief digital officer, Bello served as vice president of data strategy and analytics.
Bello, who has been with MSC since 2008, also has worked as vice president in charge of enterprise transformation and analytics and as vice president of IT applications development.
“As you may have seen, our former chief digital and information officer, John Hill, resigned as of this week,” MSC Erik Gershwind told analysts on an earnings call, according to a transcript from SeekingAlpha. “Brian Bello, who has been a strong leader within MSC’s IT organization for over 15 years, is assuming the interim lead of the area. Alan Yang, also an experienced leader with us for over 15 years, maintains his role as chief technology officer.”
