The drug research and development arm of Johnson & Johnson in conjunction with the American Cancer Society have rolled out Cancer.com, a website aimed at giving patients and others an easier way to research information about the disease and treatment.
It took The Janssen Pharmaceutical Cos., an arm of Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development, and the American Cancer Society about two years to develop and launch Cancer.com. The organizations also worked with CancerCare and Cancer Support Community.
Cancer.com provides individual content tailored to when patients need information at various stages of diagnosis and treatment such as at the point of diagnosis, making treatment decisions, during treatment, remission, and the potential of facing recurrence.
Cancer types currently featured on Cancer.com include breast cancer, lung cancer, multiple myeloma, prostate cancer, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The site also provides a wide range of content cross all tumor types.
Topic areas pinpoint what people impacted by cancer search for the most, including insurance and financial support, tips for effectively engaging with a healthcare team, and how to find local support ranging from clinical trial information to travel services.
The site also includes several digital tools such as My Care Activator, a digital health coaching tool patients can use to help cope with symptoms, work with a care team, ask for support and get appropriate for exercise and better sleep.
“We debuted Cancer.com to educate and empower patients and their caregivers,” says Tom Cavanaugh, president, Janssen Biotech Inc., Oncology.
