Newegg Commerce Inc. just announced the creation of a new online student store for college students, recent graduates, faculty and staff.

The Newegg online student store will feature deals on items college students and new graduates often need, such as laptops, keyboards, and monitors. Only consumers with a .edu email address will be able to shop at the store, Newegg said.

“We want to help students and recent grads get the best pricing on the tools they need to succeed, so we created a destination offering the lowest prices we can on essential gear for their education and careers,” said Andrew Choi, director of brand and web experience for Newegg. “We’re constantly expanding our selection of curated PCs and tech products, making it easy for everyone from students to faculty to find great deals.”

Newegg is No. 68 in the Top 1000. The Top 1000 database is Digital Commerce 360’s ranking of the largest North American online retailers by web sales. Digital Commerce 360 categorizes Newegg as a Consumer Electronics retailer.

What’s included in the Newegg student store?

Newegg said it will regularly offer deals on top electronics brands to students with promo codes. Right now, certain Asus laptops are on sale, it said. It plans to extend deals to PC components, accessories and monitors in addition to laptops.

There is also an offer from buy-now-pay-later servicer Affirm. The promo code will give students 10% off a purchase of $100 or more if they check out with Affirm. Newegg says it plans for the deal to run through the rest of 2024. It is also stackable with other promotions for further savings. 

Newegg shared other shopping tools students can use on the store, including:

• Laptop Finder: Helps students find a new laptop based on their preferred budget and size.
• Gaming PC Finder: Directs students to the best PC or laptop for their specific gaming needs. 
• Newegg Refreshed: Gives students access to a variety of refurbished products with a 90-day guarantee.

Other Newegg announcements

The consumer electronics retailer recently introduced a free membership program called Newegg+.

To sign up, consumers must create an account on Newegg.com, or sign into their existing account. Then, they can choose to enroll in Newegg+ at no cost.

Members gain access to perks like free shipping and exclusive deals, Newegg said.

The electronics retailer said it evaluated customer needs and expectations based on feedback to decide what benefits to include in the new membership. Newegg+ gives customers a “VIP-style shopping experience” on the Newegg app and website, the retailer said. Members also have access to perks like free domestic shipping on more than 1 million products, early access to new products and deals, and discounts on product warranties.
